Carcinogenic and mutagenic chemicals. Working safely

This booklet provides useful information about:

  • use of carcinogenic and/or mutagenic chemicals at workplaces
  • management of the risks related to exposure to such chemicals

After an overview on classification and labelling of carcinogenicity and mutagenicity for substances and mixtures, according to European legislation - updated to UE Regulation n.1272/2008 (CLP) - the mechanisms for carcinogenesis and mutagenesis are described, followed by the main measures to be carried out in order to control workers' exposure. Then, you can find a collection of "Sheets" dedicated to the most relevant occupational carcinogens and/or mutagens, including antineoplastic drugs. Moreover, the basic procedures for working safely are shown.
