Green Jobs: impact on the health and safety of workers

Green Jobs contribute significantly to preserving or restoring environmental quality (UNEP - United Nations Environment Programme, 2008); Additionally, they represent an opportunity to overcome the economic crisis by creating new jobs (EU - 2020 strategy). However, workers employed  in green jobs may be exposed, not only to traditional risks, but also to new types of risks; these risks may also occur in combination with each other and can be caused by the introduction of new work processes, new technologies, new substances and forms of employment and a different organization of work. The main objective is therefore to anticipate new potential risks and to put in place effective measures to prevent and avoid implications for  health and safety of workers.
