Prevention in the office goes online with the FCOS Box

The FCOS Box (https://www.ekas-box.ch/en/#!/home) provides a virtual tour of various office situations that deal with the following areas: “Working ergonomically”, “Accident prevention”, “Setting up the office” and “Office planning”. With a generous dash of humour, the two characters Sophie and Alex show how health and safety in the office can be improved with relatively little effort.

With just one click, users can invite employees and colleagues to discover the FCOS Box. Additional value is provided in the form of a set of downloadable PDFs that summarize the most important tips and information from each section.

About us

The Federal Coordination Commission for Occupational Safety FCOS is the central coordinating office for information on health and safety at work. It is responsible for the standardized application of safety regulations in organizations, the coordinated distribution of financial support and for efficient cooperation cantonal labour boards, SECO, Suva and specialist organizations.

UTools and procedures used

User-oriented, explorative and playful: the needs, goals and characteristics of the user are key to the development of the FCOS Box. A prototype was tested on a target group, which resulted in an online prevention instrument that is appealing and easy to use. Interactive buttons and animations demonstrate an entertaining approach to information and practical tips.

Evaluation

During its pilot phase, the FCOS Box was evaluated via usability testing. An ongoing survey captures feedback from users. The click rate measures the number of visitors to the web-based FCOS Box and also delivers further information on how the site is used.
