Safety Award of the ISSA-Section Machine and System Safety

Nearly 30 percent of all fatal workplace accidents in the European Union, no worldwide data available, have one cause: unsafe or even defeated machines. That is why the prevention of machine accidents plays a prominent role in efforts to make workplaces safer worldwide.

With its "Vision Zero," the International Social Security Association (ISSA) has launched a global initiative and established rules. Among those the identification of hazards and the control of risks are listed.

For the ISSA-Section Machine and System Safety the safety of machines has always been a concern of high value. Some progress has been made in the past, but figures show that still around 20 percent of all occupational accidents in the European Union are related to a lack of machine safety. For this reason the Section invites you to join us for the safety award. We want to motivate machine manufacturers to give machine safety and ergonomics a higher priority. The award carries no prize money. Besides a trophy, the winning companies receive a certificate as well as the digital logo of the safety award which may be used for marketing purposes. The safety award of the ISSA-Section Machine and System Safety shall be presented every three years, with the first award ceremony taking place at the World Congress for Safety and Health at Work, November 27th - 30th, 2023 in Australia.
