Dermal absorption of chemicals

The factsheet regards exposure to chemicals by dermal absorption.  

Chemicals, even if not irritating and corrosive, may be absorbed in significant amounts through large contact areas of non-damaged skin: their systemic toxic effects cannot be prevented only by environmental monitoring; besides, damaged skin requires more precautions.

“Sun and Health” - a prevention project for farmers

Farmers have an increased risk of uv-radiation related skin- and eye-damages. The SVB- prevention project “Sun and Health”should demonstrate the importance of taking protection measures against UV-radiation at work.
The following tools dealing with sun-protection measures were applied throughout 3 years from 2008-2010 : power-point-presentations, interviews, skin- melanin-analyser to check the individual protection time against UV-radiation, information sheets. Demonstration of safety glasses was considered to be important especially for farmers.
